Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. She's best known for her performance in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as singing lead in Apollonia 6, a girl group. The singer and actress named Apollonia by Prince was one of the many female artists in the '80s to benefit from her association with the Purple One. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica in California in 1959. Her career started as a model during the latter part of 1970. Also, she was a guest on CHiPS. In 1984 she landed the title of female lead in Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer altered her name) and replaced Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 which performed in the movie under the name Apollonia 6. After a dispute regarding the direction she was taking in her career Apollonia six broke up and Kotero stopped her collaboration with Prince. The singer appeared in several small movies during this period however, she was not able to be in her role in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. In 1985-1986 she got a role in the drama series for evenings Falcon Crest. Apollonia had the opportunity to release her debut album in the year 1988. It didn't leave a lasting impression on fans of music and was soon obliterated from the music scene. She stayed active, if not under the spotlight, acting in the decade, albeit with minor roles in television and films. An exercise DVD was made available.
